LAWA Sustainability Plan

Los Angeles, CA

Airport sustainability plans help reduce environmental impacts, maintain stable levels of economic growth, and confirm an organization’s goals are consistent with the needs and values of the local community. VHB’s Strategic Planning Optimization Tools (SPOT) gives our clients a future-focused solution to develop, plan, prioritize, track, and maintain their sustainability plans, allowing them to safeguard the long-term viability of their assets.

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the authority that owns and operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY), recognized the importance of developing an online, accessible, sustainability performance dashboard. Using SPOT, VHB worked with LAWA to collect and analyze data related to air quality, economic viability, energy management, material resources management, and water consumption; develop meaningful content; and design Annual Sustainability Reports. In addition to the report itself, we developed collateral and tools, including a database of key performance indicator data, display boards, and skill sheets that allow the client to have a better understanding of their programs. SPOT gave LAWA a complete dashboard to keep relevant information easily accessible and understandable so that as these programs move forward, smarter decisions can be made.
